Rocky Mountaineer is a privately owned Canadian rail tour operator, based in Vancouver and running luxury panoramic-window and glass dome trains through British Columbia and Alberta. Trains travel in daylight hours only — there are no sleeper cars, so every night is spent in a hotel along the route.
There are three rail routes in Western Canada, all sold as multi-day packages with hotels, transfers and sightseeing that agents can extend either side. A fourth route in Colorado and Utah, launched in 2021 as Rockies to the Red Rocks, has run since April 2026 as Canyon Spirit under the same parent company.

2 days · Vancouver – Kamloops – Lake Louise / Banff
The historic Canadian Pacific line (now CPKC) through the Fraser Canyon, Kicking Horse Pass and the Spiral Tunnels. Rocky Mountaineer is the only passenger service travelling this route.
2 days · Vancouver – Kamloops – Jasper
Follows the North Thompson River past Pyramid Falls to Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies, finishing in Jasper National Park.
3 days · North Vancouver – Whistler – Quesnel – Jasper
Coastal rainforest, the Cariboo gold rush country and ranch land, with overnight stops in Whistler and Quesnel — the route for repeat guests who want something beyond the classics.
2 days · Denver – Glenwood Springs – Moab (optional Salt Lake City extension)
The American Southwest chapter, operated from April 2026 by Canyon Spirit under the same parent company. Rockies to the Red Rocks is a daylight-only, two-day train journey that operates both eastbound and westbound between Denver and Moab, with an optional third-day extension to Salt Lake City.

SilverLeaf Service
A single-level coach with oversized panoramic windows that curve overhead, above reclining seats. Regionally inspired hot meals are cooked on board and served at your seat, with snacks and beverages through the day and access to a compact outdoor viewing area.

GoldLeaf Service
The premium level: a full glass dome on the upper deck and a dedicated dining room on the lower level where meals are cooked to order on board. Guests also have a spacious open-air viewing platform, larger reclining seats that rotate for groups of four, and priority baggage handling. GoldLeaf runs on the three Canadian routes only.

Onboard Hosts share the history and geography of the route as it passes, and meals, snacks and beverages — including British Columbia wines and local craft beer — are included in the fare. Luggage is handled for guests and transferred directly to each hotel, so nobody carries a case between the train and reception.

Season
The season runs from mid-April to mid-October, so GoldLeaf and peak July–August dates sell out early. Book first, refine the package later.
